The flight was listed as a premium private charter.

Julian stared.

Then reached for the intercom.

“Captain Shaw, I need you to review something.”

His voice was unusually serious.

And when Evelyn heard it, she knew the problem was no longer simply a disagreement at the boarding stairs.

Chapter 8: The Name on the Boarding Authorization

Isaac returned with the ground agent.

Her name was Megan Torres.

She carried the passenger manifest and a tablet containing the flight schedule.

Captain Shaw looked at her.

“Please verify the passenger.”

Megan turned toward Arielle.

“May I see your identification?”

Arielle nodded.

“Certainly.”

She opened her silver suitcase and retrieved a slim document wallet.

Vanessa watched.

Arielle handed over her identification.

Megan examined it.

Then looked at the manifest.

Her expression changed.

She checked the aircraft registration.

Then looked again at the identification.

“Dr. Monroe?”

Arielle nodded.

“Yes.”

Megan swallowed.

“You’re Arielle Monroe?”

“I am.”

The captain looked toward the manifest.

Megan turned the tablet toward her.

The authorized owner’s travel record was clearly displayed.

Arielle Monroe — Principal Owner Representative

Beneath it appeared the aircraft’s registered holding company.

Larkspur Aviation Holdings.

Evelyn looked toward Arielle.

Then toward the white jet.

She understood immediately.

“Dr. Monroe, I apologize for the confusion.”

Vanessa stared.

“Wait.”

Nobody answered.

She looked at the tablet.

Then at Arielle.

“That can’t be right.”

Arielle met her eyes.

“Why not?”

Vanessa said nothing.

The captain’s expression became serious.

“Vanessa, step away from the boarding stairs.”
